Minutes for June, 3, 2010
Regular Meeting
The meeting of Prunedale Unit 593 was called to order by 1st Vice President Diana Long at 7:10 pm on June 3, 2010 in the Lower Hall. Opening rituals were performed. All officers were present except Marshal.We had a quorum. The minutes from the May 2010 meeting were read and placed on filed. The treasurers report was read and placed on file.
Reports:
President- Diana had a note from Koni, thanking everyone for their service over the past year.
1st Vice: Diana reported that there was a transmittal that was never sent in last year which caused several members to look like they weren’t paid up for the year. It was finally fixed and the members should be all good now.
2nd Vice: Marilyn reported that we received $425.50 in donations for the poppies. Diana received the most donations and was awarded with a poppy pin.
Children and Youth- We are planning a kid’s party for the fourth of July. We are going to have it be totally outside and plan on having a water slide/jump house.
New/Unfinished Business:
On May 30th a few of our members performed the memorial service at Hamby Cemetery in Prunedale. Some of our members also attended the Memorial Day festivities at Veteran’s Park in Salinas. Breanna Baughman, a junior member, got to present a wreath at Veteran’s Park.
We received many awards from the district this year for the supplemental we wrote. We were awarded $90 dollars for the supplemental. We also received a plaque to be hung in our post for the next year for the best Children and Youth program in the district.
We also received recognition for making the rice bags and throws for Livermore.
Our Luau is going to be on Saturday, June 26th. We are planning on having pork ribs, fried rice, tropical fruit salad, and pineapple upside down cake. Koni is going to see if she can find a donation of salmon. Stefanie is going to see if she can get any donations from Neal’s work. Koni contacted Hula Dancers, and they will be there to perform at six. Stefanie’s brother will be the dj, and the legion is paying for it. SAL will help serve the food. Food will be $10 per plate and we are going to plan on 150 people.
Dinner will be on June 25th and will be burgers and fries.
Breakfast will be June 27th and is going to be omelets.
The next meeting will be held in the Lower Hall on Thursday, August 5th at 7:00 p.m. Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
