American Legion Auxiliary Unit 593
Minutes for December 3, 2009
Regular Meeting
The meeting of Prunedale Unit 593 was called to order by President Koni Dearman at 7:05 pm on December 3, 2009 in the Lower Hall. Opening rituals were performed. All officers were present except Historian, and Marshall. We had a quorum. The minutes from the November 2009 meeting were read and placed on filed.
Reports:
President- Koni started by presenting a new member and reminding us that we have shirts and books for sale as a unit fundraiser. She then read over the dates we had coming up over the next couple months.
1st Vice: Diana informed us that we currently have 80 into department and we needed one more for goal. We have 4 new members and 2 transfers to vote on..Diana made a motion to accept the six new members. Motion Seconded by Noni. Motion was carried. Diana then brought up the Christmas Barrels we have in the hall. We are planning on collecting food for members first and then sending any leftovers to the food bank.
Children and Youth- Koni reported that we have a Santa for the Christmas Party. Ruth is going to see if she can get a fire truck to bring Santa.
Americanism- Koni asked that we look into ordering and working together to make pocket flags to send to soldiers. Jennie made a motion to order 300 flags and 300 bags. Noni seconded. Motion Carried
New/Unfinished Business:
We have decided to make Tamales. Noni discussed possible prices of items and costs for selling them. We decided to sell them for $15 per dozen. They would all be pork in a red sauce. Liz will make a list to post to have sign ups.
Jennie brought up the idea to post our meals in local newspapers. Koni was going to send her the information so she could follow through with that idea.
The next meeting will be held in the Lower Hall on Thursday, February 4th 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
