American Legion Auxiliary Unit 593
Minutes for April 2, 2009
Regular Meeting
The meeting of Prunedale Unit 593 was called to order by Unit 593 President Stefanie Baughman at 7:15 pm April 2, 2009 in the Lower Hall. Opening rituals were performed. All officers were present except Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant at Arms, and Marshall. Chairs were filled by Liz Doidge and Diana Long. We had a quorum. The minutes from the March 2009 meeting were approved as read. The financial report was placed on file.
Report:
Chaplain: Mary Estrada thanked us for helping with the Four Chaplains Service. We received a Certificate of Appreciation. She also noted that Four Chaplains is always held on the 1st Saturday of February.
Jr. Activities: We talked about the Kid’s Easter Party. We had a good turnout and kids were happy with activities and baskets. Liz Doidge thanked all those who helped dye the Easter Eggs and came in early to help hide the eggs on Saturday.
We moved onto 1st Nominations:

Nominations for 1st Vice- Marilyn Yaqub, Diana Long-Davis, Stefanie Baughman, Renee Yaqub
Nominations for 2nd Vice- Renee Yaqub, Marilyn Yaqub, Ruth, Judy
Nominations for Secretary- Judy, Gretchen Norton, Marilyn Yaqub, Liz Doidge
Nominations for Treasurer- Marilyn Yaqub, Jenny Blakeman, Judy, Liz Doidge
Nominations for Executive Board- Noni Baughman, Ruth, Liz Woodward
New/Unfinished Business:
We are in the kitchen April 24th and April 26th. For Dinner we are going to have baked chicken, rice, salad, and green beans. Stefanie will purchase the food. Noni, Koni, Stefanie, and Linda will work Friday. Noni, Koni, and Marilyn will work on Sunday
The Fishing Derby is on May 2nd and we will be preparing sandwiches and brownies on April 30th and May 1st.
Poppies are in but we need to order poppy cans. Renee is going to order 20 poppy cans and order copies of the poppy story. Renee is also going to be ordering 15 Unit Handbooks and poppy seals.
Reports are due April 24th. Due to the PO Box being closed we did not receive them. Stefanie is going to find out if she can get copies of them and then we will get together to fill them out.
North Monterey County High needs help with putting on their Sober Grad Night. A motion was made to donate $100 to North Monterey County and the motion was carried.
The District is having a fundraiser at the post on the 25th of April
Next meeting will be in the Lower Hall on Thursday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m.
